Overview
From Leeds, make your way to Headingley and then onto Harewood House. Pause at Wetherby before touring Lotherton Hall. Enjoy Castleford and then explore Pontefract before continuing on to Nostell Priory. Visit Wakefield and then finish up at the National Coal Museum.
Leeds
Take in the attractions of the city of Leeds – where you can choose from a wealth of museums and galleries, the Royal Armouries, or enjoy the open market of Kirkgate. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop including the redeveloped water front.
Headingley
Visit the Yorkshire Cricket Museum at the famous cricket ground, browse the Bowery art gallery, or visit Cottage Road Cinema – the oldest cinema in Leeds. Headingley is also well known for its range of restaurants.
Harewood House
Harewood House is an impressive stately home where you can explore the rooms filled with many masterpieces including Chippendale furniture and treasures. Outside you can explore the extensive gardens, grounds and farm experience.
Wetherby
Wetherby is an award winning floral town full of historic architecture and surrounded by wonderful scenery. Check out a heritage trail, visit Sandringham Park, explore the impressive Bramham Castle or head to the Wetherby Racecourse for a flutter.
Lotherton Hall
Lotheron Hall is an Edwardian country hall and estate where you can explore a collection of artworks, artefacts, exhibits and experience life in Edwardian times. Outside you can stroll the gardens and maybe even catch sight of the grazing deer.
Castleford
Visitors can take in the town’s Roman history and magnificent glass collection at Castleford Museum and explore the history of Queen’s Mill – complete with 20 sets of grinding stones. Shoppers should head for Outlet Shopping Village – home to a number of stores and leisure activities. Cross the S shaped bridge for views of the weir.
Pontefract
A bustling market town just waiting to be explored – discover the story of liquorice, head to historic Pontefract Castle and visitor centre or enjoy a day at the Pontefract Racecourse.
Nostell Priory
Built in the 18th century, Nostell Priory is a stunning house surrounded by 300 acres of gardens, lakes, woods and parkland. Explore the house to discover a fabulous interior and a fantastic collection of Chippendale furniture.
Wakefield
Wakefield is surrounded by picturesque inspiring landscapes. Visitors can enjoy the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Hepworth Gallery on the historic Calder River waterfront and a range of festivals throughout the year.
N.C.M Museum
Get kitted out with a hard hat and travel 140m below ground to experience life as a coal miner at this great attraction or stay above ground where you can take a tour and discover the history of coal mining from a range of exhibits and displays.
