Overview
Leave Bosham harbour and aim for the Roman palace at Fishbourne. Head to Selsey Bill before returning inland and heading to the seaside town of Bognor Regis. Run parallel with the coast to arrive at Worthing and then journey on to Lancing. Head to the impressive Arundel castle overlooking the town. Pass through Goodwood before arriving at the cathedral city of Chichester.
Bosham
A pretty village on the coast, Bosham has long been associated with the story of King Cnut due to the fast flowing tide in the Bosham Channel. Visit the mill, enjoy the harbour views, browse the shops on Bosham Walk and enjoy refreshments in a relaxing atmosphere.
Fishbourne
Fishbourne, 2 miles west of Chichester is home to Fishbourne Roman Palace – significant Roman site with archaeological finds dating back to the Roman Conquest. Explore the history with a tour of the palace remains, the mosaic collections, gardens, films and displays.
Selsey
Clinging to the mainland at the foot of the Manhood Peninsula, the seaside village of Selsey is a great place to take in the fresh air. Enjoy the seaside fun, taste the local crab. Take a tour of the windmill, the Selsey Lightboat Museum or a stroll along the beach.
Bognor Regis
Enjoy the buzz of the seaside at Bognor Regis, with warm temperatures, entertainment and a great choice of restaurants it is a great day out for all family. Clean beaches, traditional seaside rides, music venues and a variety of eateries ensure a great atmosphere. Military buffs may want to visit the nearby Tangmere aviation museum.
Worthing
A seaside town on the coast at the foothills of the South Downs Worthing is a great place to relax – stroll the promenade, walk out on the pier or visit one of the oldest working cinemas in the country. Slurp an ice cream or visit one of many restaurants and cafes for refreshments.
Lancing
Grab an ice cream, pull up a beach chair and settle down to take in the view out to sea from the beach. A great place to get away and relax you can wander the nature reserve or visit the nearby landmark Shoreham Tollbridge or the Victorian era Shoreham Fort.
Arundel
The market town of Arundel is steeped in history. Check out the shops, browse the galleries or pause for something to eat and drink in a variety of eateries on picnic on the riverbank. Check out Arundel Cathedral, the local museum and be sure to leave enough time to tour the magnificent Arundel Castle. The delightful grounds also host regular cricket matches.
Boxgrove
Pause a while in Boxgrove to wander the ruins of the former Benedictine priory, Boxgrove Priory. Visit the magnificent Priory Church where villages have worshipped for over 900 years. The quarry is an English Heritage site where the bones of Boxgrove Man were found – thought to be 500,000 years old.
Goodwood
Visit the spectacular English house and estate at Goodwood House. Take a tour of the state apartments and Old House and be sure to leave time – and room – for a classic afternoon tea. Chichester
In the lee of the South Downs, discover Georgian Chichester, Sussex’s only city. Visit Chichester Cathedral, the ancient city walls, Pallant House and the Guildhall. Stroll around the Chichester canal basin, browse the array of local shops and boutiques or visit Chichester harbour.
