Overview
Head across country from Belvoir Castle to the market town of Grantham on the River Witham. Travel via Grimsthorpe to reach Boston on the edge of the Wash before heading north to the antique centre of Horncastle. Journey via Tattershall to arrive in the historic city of Lincoln.
Belvoir Castle
Explore the rooms and gardens at the magnificent Belvoir Castle, a stunning sight on the Lincolnshire skyline. Browse the Engine Yard for shopping and refreshments and just enjoy the jaw dropping views across the landscape.
Grantham
The market town of Grantham offers a choice of shops, an opportunity to visit the National Trust Property, Grantham House, and the chance to see the Victorian Gothic Guildhall built in 1869. Just outside the town is Belton House with magnificent gardens and a deer park.
Grimsthorpe
The historic house of Grimsthorpe Castle is surrounded by woodland, parkland, formal gardens and a magnificent 50 acre lake. Enjoy the setting, take a ride around miles of cycle tracks, let the children blow off steam in the adventure playground and then head to the café for refreshments.
Boston
Visit the Fenland town and port of Boston on the edge of the Wash to explore the historic streets. You’ll see The Strump – an imposing tower visible from miles around, whilst slightly further afield there is the Hussey Tower and two RSPB Reserves to enjoy.
Horncastle
The market town Horncastle, on the River Bain and River Waring, is well known for its antique trade where you can browse the local stores in search of a trinket or two. Close by you will find attractions such as Bolingbroke Castle and Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum.
Tattershall
Take a visit to the 15th century red brick Tattershall Castle, where you can explore the architecture and climb the staircase to take in the panoramic views across the countryside from the embattlements. Close by you will find the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre.
Lincoln
The cathedral city of Lincoln is home to a number of attractions including the stunning Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Castle – home to a copy of the Magna Carta - and the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Enjoy a stroll around this Roman city to take in the shops before relaxing with a bite to eat.
