Overview
Leave the coastal city of Southampton and head inland towards Marwell Zoo before enjoying the arboretum at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. Arrive at Romsey and spend some time enjoying the abundance of local attractions before heading back to vibrant Southampton via the Eling Tide Mill.
Southampton
Enjoy the sea port city on the South coast with its wealth of attractions. Mix a great shopping experience, with an assortment of eateries and exciting activities. Visit the Seacity Museum to explore the interactive Titanic model and then head for the Titanic Engineers memorial. Football fans – take in a St. Mary’s stadium tour?
Marwell
We’re going to the zoo, zoo, zoo… Situated just off the M3 between the South Downs and the Itchen River is the world famous Marwell Zoo. The 140 acres are the base for their conservation work with over 135 species of animals including giraffes, tigers and meerkats. Climb about the road and rail trains or explore the adventure playgrounds.
Romsey
The ancient market town of Romsey with its medieval streets and Norman Abbey sits on the bank of the River Test. It is a great base for touring to some of the local attractions; Broadlands – a Palladian style mansion and former home of the Mountbatten’s or the stunning Sir Harold Hillier arboretum and gardens, before striking out for Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park.
Totton
The Test Way Walk runs through Totton on the edge of the New Forest, once the largest village in England and home to the only remaining medieval toll in Hampshire. Totton is full of history – visit the heritage centre and the Testwood Lakes Centre before heading to the nearby Eling Tide Mill – only of two operating tide mills in the United Kingdom.
Southampton Town Walls
Investigate over 900 years of history at the Tudor House & Garden museum, the oldest house in Southampton and home to a Penny Farthing - on your way to the Town Walls at starting at the Bargate and heading to the docks and IoW passenger ferry and cruise terminus. The historic Town Walls date back to Roman times and are full of the history of Southampton.

Complete your tour back in Southampton where you can visit the Solent Sky Museum with its aircraft collection – be sure to see the Spitfire and Flying Boat exhibits. Calshot Spit overlooking Southampton Water was the original testing ground for the 1931 Schneider Trophy winning Supermarine Spitfire designed by R J Mitchell. Check out Banana Wharf and the Ocean Village for a choice of restaurants, shops and leisure activities.
