Edwin
Sir Fennimore Truscott is a retired High Court judge. He now spends his time sitting under the mulberry tree in his garden fixatedly ‘trying’ the case of his wife’s suspected infidelity with an old friend and neighbour.
His son Edwin who now lives in Canada is coming to lunch after many years abroad. But…is Edwin his son or not? The audience are the jury and the verdict may surprise even them.
John Mortimer (1923 – 2009) was a barrister turned prolific author and playwright. He was the creator of the long running TV series ‘Rumpole of the Bailey’ (1978 – 1992) which starred Leo McKern.
Edwin was initially written for BBC Radio and broadcast in 1982. In 1984 it was made into a TV play starring Alec Guiness.
