Clayhill Vineyard
Award Winning Vineyard in Essex
Clayhill Vineyard is situated near the village of Althorne in Essex and sits on the south-facing slopes of Crouch Vale with its clay soils running down to the river.
On a coastal peninsula and positioned between the rivers Crouch & Blackwater, Clayhill Vineyard enjoys the advantage of a microclimate. This brings mild winters and hot dry summers, which have proved to be ideal conditions to produce quality grapes for quality wines.
Clayhill makes its own still wines on site along with grape juices, apple juices and liqueurs. Sparkling wines are made at the nearby New Hall Vineyard.
You are welcome to sample & purchase our wines from our own Clayhill Vineyard through the cafe. Booked Tastings & Tours available.
The Coffee & Cake Cafe opened in 2017 with a cosy indoor space and a glass balcony overlooking the vines and down towards the river; this makes an excellent spot for a light lunch or coffee and cake with an outstanding view at no extra charge!
