Thirteenth party, youngest of the lot
August birthday, now I’ve got
To a life landmark
A year filled with light, not dark
I think I’ll enjoy being 13 a lot
__________
We went to London on the train
I’m gonna go again, again
We had fun, we walked quite far
Past old bars
Where nothings the same
__________
We watched the Palace protect
And get respect
And saw Big Ben stand tall
A regular chime it’s call
A great and grand object
__________
The London eye lit up the sky
At night time, you felt you can fly
And touch the stars
You can see mars
When you’re up so high, so high.
__________
Nelson stands up on his pole
All day, all day, he feels so cold
In the summer, he’s so hot
But doesn’t care a single jot
As he watches Londoners stroll
__________
Pink and red double deckers
Buses and taxis they play checkers
Plays and productions, Shakespeare’s globe
Lion king, Joseph’s robe
Actors names in history forever
__________
British food, busy people
There’s Saint Paul’s and it’s steeple
See the river, lots of bridges
Look down from up, see the smidges
Then you pass Westminster cathedral
__________
You wave goodbye, but shout hello
Lots of people, gotta bellow!
Picnic in Hyde and James’ Park
Lots of dogs, hear them bark
In colours of black and brown and yellow
__________
The shard pierced the sun
While I was there with my mum
My sister’s and grandparents too
We saw the changing of the guard phew!
The crowds were thick and numb
__________
There were people blowing fire on their own
People playing the saxophone
People singing on the strand
People doing magic with their hands
People all fully grown
__________
Dancers, cultures, raining and not
Caught in a storm, then we got
Under one umbrella, under a tree
All six of us, a squash you see
Rain came down like darting shots
__________
Covent garden and violinists
Ice cream, aperol spritz
Italian sorbets, parlors and shops,
We can stop
The atmosphere is just bliss
__________
It’s dry or wet
Or sunny, I’ll bet
Everything happening
It’s getting quite maddening
How much busier could London get?
__________
Premier Inn, helpful and sweet
Bedroom massive, bathroom clean
The bed was comfy, tea was tasty
Breakfast was free, let’s not eat hasty
The spoons had a serious sparkly sheen
__________
Now I’m in Devon with the waves and sand
I know the house like the back of my hand
I’m happy
Not flappy
But still not tanned
__________
I wear jumpers and caps
And shorts and hats
And lie on a mat on the sand
We walk and tire across the land
And complain about the cliffs not being flat
__________
We watch jet skiers and water boarders
Yachts and buoys and rock hoarders
Castles and collections
Finding Pirate treasure
That’s the captains orders
__________
Britain is really quite pretty
Devon is a lovely city
The birds are great
The food we can’t hate
The sea is clear, not gritty
__________
Now it’s time to say goodbye
I think it’s time for me to fly
Upon silver wings
Seeing everything
From the wind and the sky
