Learn about how and why The Tourist Trail was born
When it comes to planning staycations and days out in the UK, we understand how important it is to have a wide range of options, inspiration and information all in one place.
We have created The Tourist Trail to help you with all aspects of planning, from finding inspiration and information gathering, planning routes, discovering somewhere nice for lunch and finding the perfect place to stay.
Our unique county trails do just that.
Trails can be followed from start to finish, in sections, or used as inspiration. They can be filtered according to your interests, and they are mobile friendly so they can even be used when you are out and about.
What’s more; our Stay, Eat & Drink, Attractions and What’s On sections allow you to explore a range of options in any location in the UK you desire.
Whether it is the rolling greenery of Dartmoor, the splendour of the New Forest or the spires of Oxford, The Tourist Trail can help you find somewhere to Eat & Drink, somewhere to Stay and places to Explore.
We are mobile and tablet friendly, so take us with you on your travels and we’ll be at your finger tips whenever you need us.
But The Tourist Trail is so much more than an online guide. Our What’s On calendar will help you find local activities and our expert travel team can help you source and book accommodation should you want some support.
The Tourist Trail has explored all the different counties that make up the UK and has linked up some of the most popular sights and “must do” locations together with some hidden gems and less well-known areas of beauty and interest to suit all tastes.
To help you plan, The Tourist Trail has identified places to Eat & Drink, places to Stay and places to Explore conveniently close to each trail. There is something for everyone, so if you are seeking a relaxing hideaway or full on family entertainment use our Trail guides to help create your ideal break.
Some of the Trails are best explored by car whilst others, particularly town and city centres, are better experienced by walking or public transport. Some Trails include rail exploration and we will be adding biking trails in the future.
We are working on new Trails with specific themes e.g. Historic Trails – let us know if you have any good ideas for touring around the UK!
Whether you follow a complete Trail from start to finish, or just dip in and dip out, we hope you find something of interest and enjoy using the Trails to explore the UK!
We hope you find both the website and the Trails useful – enjoy your travels and be sure to let us have your feedback!
